Rostislav Plasgura
Rostislav Plasgura was born in 1960, Frydek-Mistek in former Czechoslavakia. As a child, he was charmed by art, namely by drawing and modelling. Woodcutting became his hobby 25 years ago and since that time many of his artwork have established itself in private collections throughout both the Czech Republic and abroad. He is a lone wolf who creates in peaceful and quiet sorroundings of his country atelier.
Nowadays he is finishing his cycle "Woman" - a set of eleven relief plastics which symbolizes the perfection of the woman and the substance of women's aspect in our life.
Wood is a living material that I feel and percieve and I strive to transform it into another part of a tree as well as my life. Each my work is, actually, my life testimony.
